Troika condemns bombing of civilians in Sudan's South Kordofan

The troika countries of the US, UK, and Norway on Saturday condemned bombing by the Sudanese government of civilians in Kauda and Heiban areas of South Kordofan which killed several people including children.

In a press statement extended to Radio Tamazuj, the Troika said the Sudanese government has a responsibility to protect all its citizens.

“We urge all parties to end the violence and allow immediate humanitarian access to those in need. We believe that the roadmap presented by the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel represents the way forward," reads the statement.

Sudan's government signed onto the roadmap, however the armed and unarmed opposition including the SPLA-North rebels of South Kordofan rejected it.

Separately, the Troika expressed concerned about the move by Sudan's government to expel the head of the UN's humanitarian wing from the country.

"The government of Sudan's action contributes to the increasingly difficult environment to address humanitarian needs in Sudan,” reads the statement.
