Sudan’s Oversight Committee for Abyei announced that a tripartite delegation from the United Nations, African Union, and the United Nations’ Security Council would arrive in Khartoum city on Wednesday to assess the Abyei dossier.

The executive director of the committee, Salooma Yahiya Musa, told the Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) Monday that the tripartite delegation would discuss the performance of UNISFA, the work of Abyei institutions as well as review deals signed with neighbouring South Sudan.

He revealed that the visit of the tripartite delegation comes in preparation for the UN Security Council meeting to renew the UNISFA mandate in November.

Yahiya added the delegation would meet with the head of the Sudan’s team for the United Nations operations and leaders of native administrations.

He further said the delegation would also visit South Sudan ahead of the meeting of the two committees scheduled to take place from 17 to 18 August in Addis Ababa.
