The court trial of two jailed Sudanese pastors, Kowa Shamaal and Hassan Abdelrahim, has been postponed in Khartoum, according to relatives of the church leaders.

The two clerics have remained in jail since December last year.

Scheduled for Monday, the trial was postponed to next week, due to absence of the prosecution team and the translator from the courtroom.

The next hearing is scheduled for Monday, 26 September.

The translator reportedly told the court over the phone that he had forgotten the date for the trial. “I am sorry, I forgot the trial of today,” the court said the translator told them.

Rev. Kowa Shamaal, who is head of missions in the Sudanese Church of Christ, together with his colleague Hassan Abderlrahim, the Secretary General of SCOC, were arrested from their homes in Khartoum on 18 December.
