Transfer of 8 Misseriya youths to Kadugli prison

Sudanese security forces in South Kordofan State transferred this week eight detained youth from the border town of Meiram to Kadugli, the capital of the state.

About a dozen youths from the Misseriya tribe were arrested 19 February near Meiram after holding a roadside protest at the time the deputy governor’s convoy was passing.

Security authorities transferred about 12 of the prisoners from their custody in Meiram at the beginning of the week to a military post in Babanusa, before moving them onward to Kadugli.

Family members have been appealing to security and intelligence authorities to allow them to pay a visit to their detained relatives, but they have not been allowed.

They are deeply worried about the conditions of the detainees after their transferred to Kadugli town. The relatives are demanding the authorities to grant the detainees trial or release them.
