Traffic on the Juba-Yei highway has returned to normal following two armed robberies yesterday where two people were wounded when criminals shot at their vehicle, according to a report by the UN radio service.
The commissioner of Central Equatoria police, Major General Henry Danima told Radio Miraya that the robbers were cattle keepers who looted valuables from the first vehicle and shot and wounded passengers in the second vehicle when it tried to escape.
Maj. Gen. Danima: “On Juba-Yei road yesterday, there was an incident. Some few criminals appeared on the road and stopped two vehicles.”
“The first vehicle was stopped and while they were searching and collecting valuables from the passengers, the second vehicle came. When those in the second vehicle saw some suspicious behavior on the road, they turned back and tried to run away. The criminals shot at it and wounded two passengers wounded slightly,” he recounted.
