Yei Deputy Mayor Silvano Ali told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the public transport has resumed movement between Yei and Juba after a vehicle conductor was killed some miles from Yei.

“The situation is okay only what happened was unidentified gunmen opened fire against a vehicle passing via Kaguata area killing a conductor and the driver managed to drive the vehicle until where there are people,” the mayor said.

He said nobody has been harmed along the roads since 9 July.

Asked whether there are security agencies deployed along Juba-Yei road, the official confirmed that special forces have been deployed to escort vehicles along the route.

The escorts began on Friday last week and are continuing. Additional sources reported that SPLA forces were deployed along the route.
