Traders say poor roads are affecting the supply of goods and services in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Edward Lugala Matayo, the chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce in Yei said traders find it hard to transport goods and other services from Juba or Uganda.
He said the Yei-Juba and Yei-Kaya roads are in bad conditions.
“The roads are completely bad and trucks could spend several days before reaching Yei town. The spot at Poki is the worst now with the rainy season and I believe without the business community, there is no government. We appeal for improvement of roads to ease the transport of goods and commodities,” said Lugala.
He said the high prices of goods and services in the markets is affecting the purchasing power in Yei River County.
The Chamber of Commerce official urged the government to prioritize the rehabilitation of the two major roads.
