A number of traders and truck drivers in Ameth common market in the disputed area of Abyei have complained that goods arriving from Mujlad in Sudan’s West Kordufan State delay on the road leading to price hikes at the market.

Some traders who spoke to Radio Tamazuj said the good from Mujlad take a long time to reach Ameth market, causing traders to increase the prices of the little available goods.

Truck drivers in Ameth also complained over the lack of goods, saying there are not enough goods in Amieth that they can buy and transport to Warrap, Unity and Aweil States. They said this delay is affecting people who depend on the goods from Mujlad.

Mohammed Adam, the deputy head of the chamber of commerce in Amieth common market said the delay is due to some administrative arrangements between traders and authorities in Mujlad.

He noted that the joint peace committee of the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka have put efforts to ensure goods arrive in the coming week.
