Police authorities in Torit State have rolled out security arrangements to ensure incident-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the state police spokesman, Justin Keleopas said a joint security force will provide a safe and secure environment for citizens, during the holiday season in the state.
The police officer further said security forces will be deployed in neighborhoods of Torit town to deter criminals and make citizens feel comfortable.
“There is a force already formed and there is an order from the public prosecutor with me here, if you commit a crime from the beginning of this celebration, we will arrest and detain you until the celebration is finished, he said.
He added, “If you cause a problem, we will open a case against you as police and will forward you to a court of law”.
For his part, the state governor’s press secretary Mr. Oringa John Godfrey said on Monday that the state police rolled out its Christmas policing plan, which will see Torit town, being divided into sectors.
“Whether it is in Inkas, Iluhum or those areas in Himodonge and everywhere within Torit town, all the security personnel will be deployed to do their job. The security forces are not there to harass anyone but they are there to ensure security is a priority,” he said.
