Molona Thomas Osman is the new President of the Torit Local Football Association (TLFA).
Osman and his team were elected on Friday in a poll conducted under the theme: “Strengthening Football Governance for a Brighter Future.”
Simon Peter presided over the election, in which Mubarak Emmy Ruben secured the Vice-President position. Philip Ochieng was elected Secretary General, and Anthony Ohisa was chosen as the Finance Secretary.
The election brought together representatives from the First, Second, and Third football divisions, as well as state and national government officials.
The new team will serve a four-year term until 2029.
New board members for the First, Second, and Third divisions were also elected to work alongside the new TLFA leadership.
Peter urged sports enthusiasts across the state to work together and prioritize football as a symbol of peace and unity.
Former TLFA President Akille Maridi welcomed the new team and expressed his support for shaping sports in the state.
He urged the new leadership to collaborate with their outgoing counterparts to address the challenges facing the football association.
“I appreciate the newly elected body and extend my congratulations. My advice to the new President and his cabinet is that you have a task ahead. You must be careful not to repeat the mistakes that we made,” he said.
Margaret Idwa Okuye, Eastern Equatoria State’s Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports, emphasized the importance of unity, stating that football is a noble activity that brings people together.
