Torit authorities endorses peace conference recommendations

Authorities in South Sudan's Torit area have endorsed the recommendation of a peaceful coexistence conference that was held last February following communal clashes between two communities in the state.

Commissioner of Torit County Hassan Orbano said the Imatong state government has endorsed the conference recommendations to be presented to the state legislative assembly for passing it to become a law that will help in resolving conflicts in the state.

Orbano stated that the recommendations included 18 articles focused on conflict issues and ways of resolving them, stopping of revenge attacks, issues of farmers and conflicts of land.

Separately, the commissioner revealed the arrest of one of the suspects of stealing and raiding on Torit-Keyala road while the authorities are searching for other suspects.
