The local civil society organisation, Support Peace Initiative Development Organization (SPIDO) has condemned the recent spate of child abduction cases in the state.

Wodcan Savior Lazarus, SPIDO Executive Director said child abduction is a harmful cultural practice which should be condemned and brought to an end.

“SPIDO condemns such barbaric and uncultured practices against the future generation of Torit, we urge parents to be vigilant in their duties and obligations,” he said.

Savior also called on Torit authorities to beef up surveillance in order to protect children from abduction.

“We appeal to the state government specifically the police and other organized forces to team up the security so that the children and those abducted should be brought back and reunited with their families,’’ he added.

Last Monday three children were abducted in Ibalany west of Torit town, just two days after two suspected abductors were arrested.
