Akec Tong Aleu, appointed governor of the proposed Tonj State in Warrap said in an interview Saturday that his priorities include ensuring sustainable peace, security, and reconciliation of local communities.

Akec said his administration will approach development in 2016 in the spirit of “leaving no-one behind”. He reaffirmed commitment to embracing a common development agenda for all communities.

“My priorities will of course be extended to productive activities. We will not encourage our people, especially the young people, to remain idle playing cards and drinking throughout the day. We will work with them and other stakeholders to identify the areas where we need to focus our attention. We will not do this alone. We will do it with the support of everybody because we do not intend to leave anyone behind.”
