Tonj mayor bans movement of cattle in town

Authorities of the Tonj municipality have decided to ban movement of cattle in the town.

Authorities of the Tonj municipality have decided to ban movement of cattle in the town.

The new bylaw was passed by Tonj legislative council last week.

The mayor of Tonj town, Joseph Anei Madoor, urged pastoralists to take their cattle to the outskirts of the town to avoid unhygienic conditions in the town.

The municipal official warns that whoever fails to respect the new bylaw, saying offenders will pay a fine of 5,000 South Sudanese Pounds.

“We will impose heavy fines on those who may violate this bylaw and based on the document signed last week, it is being mentioned that whoever goes against that bylaws will be fined,” he said.

He advised the locals to cooperate with the relevant authorities and law enforcement agencies in the execution of the newly introduced policy.
