Akec Tong Aleu, governor of Tonj state, one of the new states in South Sudan which came into existence after President Salva Kiir unilaterally issued a controversial order abolishing the administration of 10 states and expanded to 28 states, has called for an end to violence and embrace peace.

Governor who spoke in an interview on Tuesday to say what his administration was doing to remove from the illicit arms in the hands of an unauthorized civil population in the state, said his administration has conducted sensitization aimed encouraging voluntary disarmament.

“I made it clear when I became the governor that the issue of security will be one of the top priorities of the programs of the government, by follow by agriculture, peace and reconciliation. I am particularly serious but security because communal violence does not help create peaceful coexistence between our communities. So we want them to stop fighting each other. They must stop so that they can be able to live peacefully and embrace peace”, he explained.
