Tonj North authorities in South Sudan’s Warrap say peace committee between the Akok and Marial Lou clans has been set up following clashes in December which left 37 people dead and dozens wounded.

County communissioner Tito Sijin Ayii told Radio Tamazuj that the committee was formed in Juba by the appointed governor of the new Tonj State, Akech Tonng Aleu.

He said the committee includes traditional leaders who are tasked with schedulig a conference betwen the two sides.

Tito said a security force has also been deployed between the two feuding clans in the meantime.
