Three Sudanese traders taken by SPLA in Wau

Eyewitnesses in Wau town of South Sudan Western Bahr el Ghazal told Radio Tamazuj that three Sudanese traders and a South Sudanese citizen have been arrested and taken by the SPLA force in Hai 50 west of Bagari.

Eyewitnesses in Wau town of South Sudan Western Bahr el Ghazal told Radio Tamazuj that three Sudanese traders and a South Sudanese citizen have been arrested and taken by the SPLA force in Hai 50 west of Bagari.

The witnesses said the SPLA force had attacked the area by shelling it with RPG fire at 4:00 am.

They pointed out that the Mayer of Wau town came to the area and asked the SPLA to withdraw to their barracks and not to create fear and panic among the citizens.

“Around 4:00 am a force from the SPLA attacked the area. They fired an RPG but there were no causalities,” one witness said. The witness said after the force withdrew they took with them three Sudanese traders from their shops and another South Sudanese citizen.

“Three Sudanese traders were arrested from their shops and another South Sudanese citizen was also arrested,” he said.

He identified the three Sudanese traders as Abu Talib Musa, Mohammed Musa and Ishag Ahmed, and the South Sudanese citizen is called Awad Dungus who works with the Red Cross.

The arrested traders and the South Sudanese citizen are still in SPLA custody. The witness said residents of Hai 50 have fled the area following this incident.
