Three Sudanese Muslim Hajj pilgrims performing the Islamic spiritual exercise have died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, according to a Sudanese medical team.
Confirming the incident to the press, the Medical Mission in the Office of the Sudanese Pilgrims noted that three pilgrims have died. The medical team said one person suffered a medical condition and two others died due to high heat.
The three pilgrims who died on Thursday were identified as Buthaina Khalid al-Bashir Khalid, from White Nile State, Aisha Mohammed Ali Obaid, from Al-Gazira State, and Alawiya Bashir al-Haj Khair al-Sayyid from Khartoum State.
The medical mission pointed out that it had recorded nine death cases during this season.
The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, the most holy city for Muslims, and is considered a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, at least once in their lifetime.
