Three people have died in a fatal accident in Rubkona County, Unity State, police have confirmed.
The trio, two South Sudan People’s Defence Force (SSPDF) soldiers and a civilian died on the spot in the grisly Thursday morning crash, Captain Domai Dak Kai, the Director of Highway Traffic in Unity State, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday afternoon.
He said the two soldiers were trapped in a car they were travelling after it hit another SSPDF vehicle before hitting a pedestrian who died on the spot.
Captain Domain said the vehicles might have been over-speeding, adding that two injured soldiers were rushed to Bentiu Hospital for treatment.
“The vehicle was moving at high speed from Rubkona Town to the Division 4 Headquarters within the Rubkona area. It collided with another SSPDF vehicle, killing the vehicle’s two soldiers and one civilian on the spot,” Domai said.
The officer said police towed the wreckages of the ill-fated vehicles to Bentiu Police Station as sleuths begin probing the cause of the accident.
