At least three people were killed and seven others wounded in inter-communal clashes between the Apuk and Aguok clans in Gogrial State on Sunday, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Ariech Mayar Ariech, Gogrial’s Information Minister, said the state government deployed a security force to create a buffer zone between the two feuding clans.

The local official pointed out that the proliferation of arms in the hands of citizens is causing insecurity in the state.

Meanwhile, Simon Machuer, a youth leader in Gogrial, claimed that at least 27 people were killed and 38 others sustained gunshot wounds since the clashes erupted between the Apuk and Aguok clans on 5 May.
