Three people died after they were overwhelmed by floodwaters in Kuach South Payam of Gogrial West County, Warrap State, according to local officials.
Joseph Ngong Ngong, Kuach South Payam Administrator, told radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the three people died in separate incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
“On the 12th, a girl called Nyanut Nyok Chol was found drowned in floodwaters at Ngopdit Village on Wednesday. Three boys looking after cows tried to cross Maker stream, and one boy called Akol Ajiek Akol downed on Wednesday,” he said.
“Again, a solider from South Sudan Civil Defense Force was also found dead in floodwaters when he was trying to check his fishing net,” he added.
Ngong advised the community that children should not be allowed to look after cows. He revealed that many people were also bitten by snakes in the county.
Meanwhile, the head chief of Kuach South Payam, confirmed that three people drowned in floodwaters.
