About three measles cases have been recorded at the United Nations Protection of Civilian’s Site (PoC) in Wau town, a local official said.

James Okello Morgan, director general at the state ministry of health said in a press statement on Thursday that about three measles cases among children were recorded at the camp, saying health organizations confirmed an outbreak of measles inside the camp.

He explained that the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed six measles case out of eleven samples it had taken.

James pointed out that the Expanded Programme on Immunization in collaboration with several organizations had trained people to carry out a two-day vaccination campaign against measles inside the UN camp on Friday.

James noted that the campaign targets 17,000 children less than 15 years of age.
