Three people were killed and several others injured during an attack by unknown assailants on the Lainya-Yei Road, according to Central Equatoria state Minister of Information Adil Anthony.

The attack was on a civilian vehicle.

“We don’t know those attackers, whether they are just criminals or members of SPLM-IO,” Anthony said. “They came out from the forest and stopped the vehicle. The incident took place in a certain checkpoint just near to Yei.”

He said security reinforcements were sent from Yei, but they were too late to catch the attackers. Investigations continue, though.
