Three jailed, many injured in Mingkamen communal clash

Three suspects are in prison in connection with fighting within a community in Mingkaman of Lakes State, according to the local government.

There was gunfire heard in the town Wednesday afternoon, reportedly in connection with a dispute over a ruling made by a traditional court.

Deputy Executive Director of Awerial County David Manyiel said 27 people were injured and taken to the hospital. He said two of the victims were women.

He said the communal violence started because two men were fighting over a cow. The official urged the two sides to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
