Three children were on Tuesday abducted from a family in Uror County of Jonglei State, an official disclosed.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, James Ruai, the director of information in the defunct Bieh State said members of the family were attacked by gunmen on the way to Pieri from Partet area.
Ruai accused armed youth from the greater Pibor area of involvement in the incident.
“They attacked the family in Partet village of Pamai payam. Three children aged between two and five were abducted. The children belong to a chief called Deng Gany,” he explained.
Ruai, however, pointed out that no one was hurt during the incident.
He said residents living in the county have started fleeing their villages to Pieri and Yuai areas in fear of attacks.
The communities of greater Jonglei state have for long been wrangling leading to cattle raids and child abductions.
