A large number of citizens displaced by recent clashes between the government forces and armed opposition fighters in Liang area have arrived in Bunj town, while others fled to the bush, a local official said.
Luk Sadallah Deng, Maban County Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that insecurity in Liang village forced civilians to flee to the bush, while others arrived in Bunj town.
Deng further said about 2,852 conflict-displaced people are currently occupying four classes, while others are sheltering in the church in Bunj town.
He pointed out that the internally displaced people were experiencing deteriorating humanitarian conditions due to acute shortages of food and medicines.
Liang area was accommodating a large number of people before the attack by the opposition faction last week, according to the commissioner.
At least four people were report killed and four others wounded when government forces and SPLA -IO fighters clashed at Liang village in Maban County last week.
