Thieves steal over 1 million SSP from company in Tonj town

Thieves on Thursday last week broke into a money transfer company in Tonj South County of Warrap State and stole 1,350,000 SSP, the company’s manager said.

Thieves on Thursday last week broke into a money transfer company in Tonj South County of Warrap State and stole 1,350,000 SSP, the company’s manager said.

Michael Uchu, the manager of Wad Akak Deib Investment, told Radio Tamazuj that the policeman on duty at the time the incident occurred was arrested for interrogation.

He appealed to the police and any member of the public with information leading to the arrest of the suspects to assist the company.

"The total amount taken was 1,350,000 SSP. An amount of 1,200,000 SSP was for the company, while an amount of 150,000 SSP was my own money.  The policeman who was sleeping on the veranda of the shop said he did not hear anything. I went to police to record a statement, and the policeman who was guarding the shop is in custody,” said Uchu.

He urged the concerned authorities to improve security in Tonj town.

Wad Akak Deib Investment Company opened in Tonj town in April 2020.
