Thabo Mbeki, former President of South Africa and chief mediator of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) for Sudan is expected in Khartoum this week.

A source told Ashrooq Network that the mediator’s visit aims at accelerating the National Dialogue process as well as the issues in Blue Nile and South Kordofan States.

During his previous visit to Khartoum, Mbeki confirmed his panel’s readiness to talk to Sudanese political parties and armed movements which are boycotting the national dialogue initiative to participate so a peaceful settlement is reached.
