The governor of South Sudan’s Terekeka State has ordered authorities in Tijor County to start a disarmament campaign to curb armed cattle raids.
Speaking to the press in Juba, Terekeka Information Minister Philip Lado said Governor Augustino Laku Boli made the remarks during his visit to Tijor County on Sunday.
Governor Lako instructed the county authorities to collect all arms in the hands of the civilians to reduce insecurity in the region, saying those who do not voluntarily give back their arms will face the law.
He also called on the citizens to denounce violence and armed robberies and embrace peace in the area.
