The police in Rumbek Central County of Lakes State are investigating circumstances under which a teenage girl was stabbed to death on Thursday.
The acting police spokesperson in Lakes State, Moses Machuoc Bol, told Radio Tamazuj that the 14-year-old girl identified as Moch Muothic Kok Malok was stabbed in the Mabor-ngap residential area.
“The person who stabbed her with a knife is not known, and the police are investigating the circumstances,” he said.
Machuoc said according to preliminary reports, the girl was sleeping outside her room when someone sneaked into the compound and stabbed her at 2 am.
The police officer has urged community members with information regarding the matter to report to the police station to aid investigations.
Dr. Terran Madit Terran, Rumbek State Hospital’s medical director, said the girl was brought to the hospital in the morning but she succumbed to the stab wounds.
“The girl sustained multiple knife injuries in her stomach. We conducted a surgical operation on her and found that she has a lot of multiple knife injuries in her stomach up to her back and that led to her death when she was brought to Rumbek State Hospital in the morning,” he said.
