Teachers in Al-Salam Locality go on strike over unpaid allowances

Teachers and school employees in Al-Salam Locality in Sudan’s West Kordofan State have gone on strike for three days after the state ministry of finance allegedly failed to pay them allowances approved in the fiscal budget this year.

Teachers and school employees in Al-Salam Locality in Sudan’s West Kordofan State have gone on strike for three days after the state ministry of finance allegedly failed to pay them allowances approved in the fiscal budget this year.

In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the sub-union of employees in the education sector in Al Salam Locality said the union decided to go on strike after the finance ministry refused to implement a secular on approved allowances from the national government.

The statement pointed out that that the teachers and other staff will call off the strike on Monday. However, the union vowed to continue with their strike on Tuesday if the ministry fails to pay the allowances as stipulated in the fiscal budget.
