Tambura-Yambio Catholic priest dies

The Rev Fr Charles Vigilio Modi Tombe of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio, Western Equatoria State, is dead.

The Vicar for Clergy and Religious, Fr Benjamin Wasi, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that Fr Tombe died on Monday evening at the St Tereza Hospital in Nzara County after a short illness.

“The Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio is deeply saddened to announce the passing on of our beloved Priest, Fr Charles Tombe, who departed early evening Monday, at the St Tereza Hospital,” Fr Wasi said.

The Vicar described the dedication of the late Fr Tombe to the work of Christ in the Diocese, adding that he had served in several stations since he was ordained a priest on December 8, 2017.

“Fr Charles Tombe served as Parish Priest of the St Charles Lwanga from 2018-2020, Priest of the Apostolic groups from 2020-2024,” he said.

“Fr Tombe dedicated his life serving our community with unwavering faith, compassion and kindness,” the Vicar said.

Fr Tombe was born in Juba on November 27, 1983.
