Authorities in South Sudan’s Tambura State have closed the road linking the state to the Central African Republic (CAR) over insecurity.
The deputy state governor, James Adu Votoki told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that they took the decision on Wednesday to protect civilians. He accused the Ambororo nomadic tribe of causing insecurity on the road.
According to the state official, members of the defense forces have been deployed on the road linking the state with CAR. He urged the traders to consider the order issued to protect them.
Some of traders said insecurity on the road has affected their businesses.
Ueko Patrick Mawa, a retailer in Tambura town, said the closure of the road has affected his business in the goods he used to sell in CAR.
Mark Michael Gboro, another trader, said he is unable to get money for feeding his family after the road was closed.
Six South Sudanese traders were reported killed on the road recently.
