Peace negotiations between Sudan’s government and rebel groups in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia are set to begin today following a short delay, according to a source close to the African Union High Implementation Panel (AUHIP), which mediates the talks.

The talks were scheduled to begin yesterday, according to Mahmud Khan, who heads the AU Liaison Office in Khartoum, but the government delegation arrived late to the negotiations venue.

Meanwhile, Sudan Tribune reported that the postponement of the negotiations is attributed to administrative reasons concerning the African mediation.

The Khartoum government said it made changes to its negotiating team including the head of the delegation.
