Wany Bum, a lawmaker at the Jonglei State Transitional Legislative Assembly, who was suspended by his colleagues as the house’s specialized committee on information and communication chairperson a month ago for allegedly failing to deliver, has been reinstated, the assembly’s speaker said.
Rt. Hon. Amer Ateny, told Radio Tamazuj Tuesday that she directed Wany to resume after apologizing.
“Wany Bum was suspended from chairpersonship by lawmakers a month ago. On Monday, I tabled his case at the assembly business committee meeting, which unanimously agreed that I lift the suspension because Hon. Wany had apologized,” she said.
The assembly speaker said all charges against Hon. Wany have been dropped and that he resumed work as the official assembly’s mouthpiece from Monday, September 12, 2022.
For his part, Wany welcomed the decision.
“I am now reinstated though I was resisting my suspension. There was no complaint; everyone else was welcoming me. I think the decision by the speaker was after wider consultations with Principals, MPs, and the then acting speaker,” he said.
