Authorities in Gok State said Friday that three men arrested in connection with the killing of Kenyan Catholic cleric Victor-Luke Odhiambo have admitted to the crime.

Father Victor-Luke Odhiambo was shot and killed by armed men at the Daniel Comboni Jesuit compound in Cueibet town on Thursday morning. He was the principle of Mazzolari Teachers College in Cueibet.

Gok’s Minister of Information John Madol Panther told Radio Tamazuj that the three suspects admitted their role in the murder of the Kenyan priest.

“Those who have been arrested have confessed to the killing that occurred. These are armed criminals in the area,” he said.

Madol further said security personnel are investigating the incident. However, he said one suspect is still at large.

The state minister noted that the motive behind the killing of the Roman Catholic priest remains unclear.

On Thursday, the government of Gok state sent its condolences to the family of the late Victor-Luke and the Catholic Diocese in greater Lakes state. The state government had declared 3 days of mourning in honor of the slain priest.
