Authorities in the disputed Abyei Administrative Area say suspected Misseriya men attacked the Lou Village in Amethaguok County on Wednesday morning.
Nyok Deng, Amethaguok County Commissioner told Radio Tamazuj that details of the attack remain scanty.
“There is an attack this morning in Lou village where Misseriya armed men attacked the area and it is continuing as I speak and the Misseriya took cattle but I will provide further detail later,” he said.
A resident of the area who preferred anonymity said: “The Misseriya attacked Lou near Aniet market and they took cattle.”
Meanwhile, Abyei information minister Ajang Deng said they were aware of the attack but could not provide further details.
“I am now in the meeting and there is an attack there but we are waiting for the county commissioner and security organs to tell us more information of what exactly happened,” he said.
Radio Tamazuj will provide further details as soon as they are available.
