At least two people were killed, two others injured and several cows stolen when suspected cattle raiders attacked herders in the outskirts of the Ayod County’s Kwachdeng area in Jonglei State on Monday, police said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Both Both Yuet, the Ayod County police inspector, said, “On Monday afternoon some cattle raiders attacked four cattle keepers while they were herding their cows at an area 30 minutes from Kwachdeng. In the attack, two people were killed and two others injured and the raiders made away with the cows.”
“Those killed were identified as Tut Thou Del and Manyak Lul Tut,” he added.
The police official pointed out that no one was arrested in connection with the cattle theft and deaths.
For his part, Albino Gatkek, the acting Ayod County commissioner, confirmed the incident and said that the local youth are pursuing the attackers to recover the stolen animals.
