A man suspected of killing his friend last month in Unity State’s Panyijiar County was arrested on Sunday.
According to local authorities, Bangoag Manyang who has a history of abusing alcohol, shot and killed his bosom friend Lony Lieth Gai on 14 October resulting in tensions and a revenge killing.
Panyijiar County Commissioner Gabriel Majok Bol confirmed to Radio Tamazuj Monday that the suspect was arrested on Sunday and an investigation is underway to unravel the motives behind the tragic incident.
“The authorities in Panyijiar County have taken action against the armed man who committed a crime against his friend and the suspect was taken into custody on a Sunday afternoon in Panyijar,” he said. “There are no known disputes or conflicts that have been reported between the two individuals. They were best friends and worked together, and, unfortunately, fate has brought them to this point.”
The commissioner also reassured the community of improved security and diminished tensions between the two families.
“Once investigations are complete, the suspect will be sent to court and official criminal charges will be brought against him by the law,” Majok added.
