Surveyors suspend work in Maridi after complaints

Demarcation of Hai Tarawa residential area in Maridi has been suspended since last week by the county government due to complaint that the surveyors have not been demarcating fairly.

Some residents claimed that the land surveyors were favoring some residents’ with permanent houses from the possible demolition, Maridi FM reports.

Porosila Ezikia a residence of Hai Tarawa says she has a lot of doubt with the current surveyors on the way they are demarcating their area where very many houses have been demarcated as falling on the road.

The deputy executive director Maridi County John Ezikia Paul says they are going to hold a meeting with the Hai Tarawa people to find the way forward so that the demarcation can continue.

In a related development, residents of Suk Amal are also complaining that the roads that were planned to be opened in their area after demarcation have not been done saying it is hard for some residents to access their homes.

The deputy executive director responded to the complaints by saying that the roads cannot be opened when there is no place yet to relocate those whose homes are on the road since it is still rainy season. He called on the residents to be patient until the next dry season next year.       .

Since independence, Hai Tarawa is now the third area of Maridi town to be demarcated after Suk Amal and Hai Zira.
