Surgical services expanded in Jonglei state

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has deployed a surgical team to Dorein, south of Pibor town in Jonglei state, the organization announced on Friday.

ICRC already had medical teams stationed in Bor and Malakal hospitals, and deployed the new surgical team by mid-July. These teams have treated casualties of recent inter-tribal fighting, including wounded evacuated from Gumuruk in Jonglei state.

Since 14 July, ICRC surgeons have operated on 93 wounded. According to the statement, ICRC works closely with Médecins Sans Frontières to ensure post-operative care in Jonglei State.
