Sudan’s FFC-DB delegation meets US special envoy in Cairo

A delegation from the Forces of Freedom and Change - Democratic Bloc (FFC-DB)on Tuesday met with the US Special Envoy for Sudan, Ambassador Tom Perriello in Cairo, Egypt.

During the meeting, the delegation provided a comprehensive explanation of the situation in Sudan.

The delegation blamed the war in Sudan on an attempt by some political forces to “monopolize the political process through the Framework Agreement and to marginalize most other political forces.”

They stressed that the correct approach to resolving the crisis begins with a long-term ceasefire as a first step, paving the way for addressing the humanitarian crisis .

They also told the envoy that effectively addressing urgent issues, including the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from cities and civilian homes according to the Jeddah Declaration of May 11th, along with the formation of effective mechanisms for implementing and monitoring any agreement could provide much more lasting solutions to the crisis.

Dr. Mohamed Zachariah Faraj-Allah, the spokesperson for the Forces of Freedom and Change - Democratic Bloc, told Radio Tamazuj that during the meeting they stressed on the neeed to launch a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue that does not exclude anyone in order to reach a solution to the Sudanese crisis.

He added that the proposed dialogue should be Sudanese-Sudanese and should take place within Sudan.

Dr. Mohamed said: "The aim of the meeting was to explain the Democratic Bloc's vision for resolving the current crisis. On our part, we affirmed that the Democratic Bloc calls for a peaceful and secure solution to the ongoing war in Sudan, and sees that the approach to achieving this is through implementing the outcomes of the Jeddah Agreement.."

"There is an important role that can be played by international powers represented by the United States of America and neighboring countries of Sudan, especially South Sudan and the Arab Republic of Egypt, in facilitating dialogue between Sudanese parties,” he added.

For his part, US Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, affirmed the role of the United States of America and its efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis and enhance comprehensive dialogue between all concerned parties, with the United States keen on ensuring that the solution is Sudanese-led.

The delegation from the Forces of Freedom and Change - Democratic Bloc, which met with the US Special Envoy for Sudan, included Nur Al-Daim Taha, Assistant to the Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement and member of the Political Committee of the Forces of Freedom and Change, and Dr. Mohamed Zachariah Faraj-Allah, Acting Political Secretary for the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).
