The deputy chairperson of the Sudanese Sovereign Council General Mohamad Hamdan Dagalo arrived in Juba on Tuesday to follow up on the implementation of the South Sudan 2018 revitalized peace agreement.

"As peace guarantors to the South Sudan Revitalized Peace Agreement, our coming today is to follow up on the peace implementation, especially the graduation and deployment of the unified forces. We have come to meet with all parties to the peace agreement in Juba and I hope all will go on well," General Mohamad Hamdan Dagalo, Sudanese deputy president told reporters at the Juba International Airport on Tuesday.

Also addressing the press, President Salva Kiir's Security Advisor Tut Gatluak Manime who also doubles as the Chairperson for the National Transitional Committee said: "We have received in the capital Juba the Sudanese Vice President for Sudan. He has come to follow up on the implementation of the peace agreement for South Sudan especially in the area of security arrangement, graduation, and the unification of the army."

The transitional period in South Sudan is nearing an end, but key elements in the security sector have not yet been achieved by the current transitional government.

Last week, peace monitors urged the national assembly to expedite the enactment of the pending security, political parties, and constitution-making bills and the revitalized government to avail funds for the completion of the Transitional Security Arrangements, including redeployment of unified forces, as well as for DDR programs.
