Sudan is home to a multitude of Sufi Orders, known for their significant social influence in various regions.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Al-Ebaid Al-Borai, the spokesperson for the High Coordination of Sufi Order in Sudan, conveyed that he conducted a series of meetings during his recent visits to Port Sudan, Kassala, and Al-Gazira. His discussions included a briefing of the initiative’s objectives to the governor of Al Gazirah.

Al-Borai emphasized their unwavering dedication to fostering unity among the Sudanese population, promoting a common citizenship that transcends distinctions based on religion, colour, or tribe.

He stated, “We are working tirelessly to unite the Sudanese and unify them on the basis of citizenship without discrimination between them on the basis of religion, colour, and tribe.”

Borai underscored the pressing need to halt the ongoing conflicts in Sudan, stating, “There is an urgent need to put an end to the ongoing war in Sudan.”

Since April 15, the country has experienced violent confrontations between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, tribal disputes, and heightened security tensions.

After nearly six months of fighting, an estimated 9,000 people have been killed and another 5.6 million forced to flee their homes, according to the United Nations.

The Sudanese armed forces and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) expected to resume peace negotiations this week in the Saudi port city of Jeddah.
