Several Sudanese citizens have expressed their hopes and aspirations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, calling on the conflicting parties to halt the war so that people can enjoy peace, security, and stability.
Samaual Bashir told Radio Tamazuj that he hopes the war ends and displaced people return home.
“We hope that Eid returns to us and that the war stops in Sudan and that all those who were displaced return safely to their homes,” he said. “This cursed war that has destroyed, displaced, and killed Sudanese people and depleted the resources and assets of the people must come to an end.”
He called on the conflicting parties in Sudan to heed the voice of reason and for all citizens to seek true and internal peace which must be peace with oneself before peace can spread throughout the country.
Another citizen, Mohammed Ibrahim, said he hopes people celebrate the next Eid festivities in their homes.
“We hope all Sudanese celebrate the next Eid in their original homes. We celebrate this year’s Eid while the Sudanese people are dispersed and divided between internal displacement in rural villages and other cities in search of a haven,” he said. “We hope that people will be at peace and have security, economic prosperity, and improved infrastructure and that everyone will return to their homes safely.”
For his part, Abdulrahim Abdullah told this publication that he wishes for peace, security, and stability to prevail in the country.
“On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, we pray to Allah to bring peace and stability to our country,” he prayed.
