Sudanese traders who are currently working in Aniet administrative unit in the contested area of Abyei report difficulties getting space to bury their dead in the area.

Sheikh Hassan Mohamed, a trader’s representative, told Radio Tamazuj that they normally pay a huge money to transport their dead people to their areas of origin in Sudan.

Mohamed said they should be given a cemetery to bury their dead because they have been living in the area for many years.

He pointed out that about 739 Sudanese traders are now working in Aniet area. The trader added they approached local authorities on the matter and they were allocated three cemeteries, but these were submerged by flood.

“Three cemeteries have already have been identified, there is a cemetery near Makhazin and another one at Jualjok and the third at Majangkol. So next week we will demarcate it and then clear it,” he said.

He further called on the Abyei Areas Administration to allocate specific areas to be used as cemeteries.
