Sudanese trader killed in Wau

A trader from Sudan’s Darfur region was killed and another wounded in an attack by unknown gunmen in Wau town in Western Bahr al Ghazal state Monday evening.

A trader from Sudan’s Darfur region was killed and another wounded in an attack by unknown gunmen in Wau town in Western Bahr al Ghazal state Monday evening.

The victim was identified as Al Haj Adam Daud.

Livio Bahara, mayor of Wau town, told Radio Tamazuj that an armed group came and opened fire on a house of Sudanese traders at Hai Nazrit. He said the incident resulted in the killing of one Sudanese trader and wounding of another. He said the wounded man is named Al Tahir Daud Mahdi, an uncle of the deceased.

Several Sudanese traders told Radio Tamazuj that the wounded was in critical condition in Wau Teaching Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Police authorities announced that they were still pursuing the perpetrators and identifying them.

Wau town has witnessed surging crime, with the latest incident in which a government official was wounded in an armed attack and money robed at Hai Jebel.
