The Sudanese Minister of Trade, Osman Omer El Sherif, is scheduled to visit the states of Sennar and the White Nile next week, in preparation of the opening of the cross-border trade between Sudan and South Sudan.
The Minster is accompanied by a Sudanese high-level businessmen and women delegation to inspect the prospective trade points between the two countries. “The visit aims at facilitating the opening of crossing points along the borders between Sudan and South Sudan to the Cooperation implement signed in Khartoum”, a source confirmed.
Jamal Mousa Nasr El Din, the Secretary for States Affairs of the Sudanese Business People Union, confirmed that the visit of the Minister comes as an outcome of the recent joint meeting held between the Trade Minister, the directors within the Ministry, and the business people, which discussed trade-related issues in Sudan besides the opening of crossing points with South Sudan.
He further explained that they also agreed on the initiation of an Economic Forum, under the auspices of the Vice-President, with participation of all the governors and their Ministers in charge of economic clusters across the Sudan states.
The business communities in Sudan and South Sudan held a meeting in Khartoum last month and discussed trade and economic integration between the two countries beside establishment of joint bank.
