Sudanese trade minister to inspect crossing points

The Sudanese Minister of Trade Osman Omer Al Sherif is scheduled to visit Sennar and White Nile states this week to implement opening of border trade between Sudan and South Sudan.

The minster will be accompanied by a Sudanese high-level business delegation.

“The visit aims at facilitating the opening of crossing points along the borders between Sudan and South Sudan according to the cooperation implementation deal signed in Khartoum,” a source confirmed.

Jamal Musa Nasur-Edin, the Secretary for States Affairs of the Sudanese Business Union, said that the visit of the minister came as the outcome of recent meetings within the ministry and also with business leaders.

The Sudanese businessman explained that they also agreed on initiation of an economic forum for the states under the auspices of the vice-president with participation of all governors and ministers in charge of economic affairs from the states.

The business communities of Sudan and South Sudan held a meeting in Khartoum last month and discussed trade and economic integration between the two countries beside establishment of joint bank.
