Sudan’s security agents on Tuesday evening briefly arrested eight members of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party after storming the party’s headquarters in Umbada, a senior party official said.
The spokesman of the Sudanese Congress Party, Mohammed Arabi, said in a statement that said their members were picked while attending a program organized to create awareness on cholera prevention.
Arabi further said the party officials who were detained for some hours included Al-Fateh Omer, the former party chairperson, Jalal Mustapha and Mawahib Majzub Ownsa among others.
